AUTHORED work
(FULL CONCEPT, FILMING, EDITING, PRODUCTION)

Genesis re-imagined in an enigmatic otherworld. Ideas latent in the original myth such as the double, pandora's box, apollo vs. dionysus and determinism vs. free will are distilled in a minimal testing ground.
The game of snakes and ladders is an allegory for the dilemma of free will/determinism in Genesis. If Adam and Eve didn't have free will or morality and everything was predetermined, how can they be held accountable for sin? It is similar to a game of snakes and ladders where there is no real choice or strategy involved, you just roll the dice and embrace your fate.
In this version, snakes represent temptation and the ladders lead to enlightenment/heaven (in the Jacob's ladder sense). The board extends ad infinitum so they could play it forever but nothing would happen, so Eve tempts Adam to go down the snake with her, forgoing the path thats been chosen for him. They land on the number 13 and then get 'hungry' for their own free will and eat the apple as a sacrament, realising they don't need to play by the rules anymore.

ARCHIVAL RE-EDITS
(EDITed from second hand sources)
When editing recreationally, I source audio and video clips that I can sense cut well together and discover a groove to edit them to.
rhythm
Film: Enter The Void by Gaspar Noë
Track ID: Sneaker Pimps - Spin Spin Sugar
MIMESIS
Film: the Limits of Control by Jim Jarmusch
Track ID: Marcosido - The Mystery of the Men in Black
As a complete coincidence, I realised that the travelogue voiceover in the track synced up perfectly with the film - Jim Jarmusch’s cryptic, synchronous film logic of a wandering traveler with the travelogue style audio track.
As De Bankole tunes into his intuition, he discovers that everything is in analogy to each-other.
And so I edited the film and audio into a kind of Baudrillardian hall of mirrors.
